We see sustainability not as a separate chapter heading but as the sum of the decisions taken on site. On this page we share only data we can measure and document — and we write with equal openness about what we have not yet measured.
We work under three headings
Clean energy
We feed electricity into the grid from the solar power plant we operate at Odunpazarı, Eskişehir. This is not a contract carried out for a client; it is our own investment, in our ownership and under our operation.
Durable infrastructure
The greatest environmental cost of a structure arises not when it is built but when it has to be renewed early. In our line of work, the first meaning of sustainability is therefore durability: a road built correctly once is not built a second time.
People and community
Employment of women, occupational safety, and a lasting contribution to the regions where we work. We treat these not as a separate corporate responsibility heading but as the natural consequence of our recruitment and site policy.
Clean energy: Odunpazarı Solar Power Plant
At Odunpazarı in Eskişehir we operate a solar power plant made up of eight separate generating facilities. Total installed capacity is 9,221.85 kWp and the electricity generated is fed into the grid.
The plant is not a contract undertaken for a client; it is an investment we established with our own capital and operate with our own team. It is a line of business separate from highway contracting, which is why it is described here rather than in our project list.

The figures are taken from the plant’s monitoring system. We will publish the plant’s actual annual generation, and the corresponding emissions figure, on this page once a full year of data has been compiled. We do not think it right to give an estimated generation figure derived from installed capacity.
Durable infrastructure
The environmental cost of a highway is not incurred once. Pavement that deteriorates early is milled again, laid again, hauled again; every repetition means new material and new fuel. Building the structure correctly the first time is therefore our most concrete environmental contribution.
We produce and inspect the material ourselves
With five asphalt production plants, five concrete batching plants and four concrete testing laboratories, we produce the material we use in our own facilities. Sample results are recorded in the progress payment file. Not delegating production and inspection to subcontractors makes compliance with the specification traceable on paper.
Work we took on after the earthquakes
The work we carried out in the region after the earthquakes of 6 February 2023 shows that durable infrastructure is not an abstraction for us:
- Antakya Ring Road Junction – Samandağ road, earthquake damage repair — Highways 5th Regional Directorate
- Railway line damaged by the earthquake between Fevzipaşa and Islahiye — TCDD
- Nurdağı – Hassa – Kırıkhan road, outstanding works between Km 42+000 and 66+000 — Ministry of the Interior, provincial special administration
- Hatay Group / Kırıkhan state road — Highways 5th Regional Directorate
In the same year, in Bursa, we carried out the repair of post-disaster damage along various stretches of coast on behalf of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
People and community
Employment of women
We have more than sixty women employees, and eight women engineers serve on our technical team. We can write this as our current position rather than as a target. Employment of women in construction remains low; for us this is not a separate corporate responsibility heading but the natural result of our recruitment policy.
Occupational health and safety
Safety is not the first heading relaxed when the schedule tightens. On sections open to traffic, occupational safety is at the same time the safety of the road user; we therefore treat the safety of our employees, our subcontractors and the settlements along the route within the same framework.
Hacı İbrahim Demir Complex
The complex we built at Ahlatlıbel in Ankara houses, alongside the place of worship, a Qur’an school, a library and reading room, a condolence hall and a foundation building. Educational and cultural activities continue there and meals are served regularly. Its running costs are still met by our group companies. More about the complex.

Sustainability pages are often filled with well-meaning sentences that were never measured. We have no publishable data under the headings below. We do not think it right to write without measuring; these will be added to this page as the data is compiled.
- Actual annual generation of the Odunpazarı solar plant and the corresponding emissions figure
- Emissions from fuel and electricity at our sites and facilities
- Recovery rate of excavation and construction waste
- Share of materials and services sourced from the project region
- Percentage of women employees relative to total headcount
Shortening this list matters more than writing long sentences.
