Highway and infrastructure contracting since 1992

History

We set out in 1992 under the name Demir İnşaat and carry more than thirty years of experience today. The milestones below are drawn from our official contract records and from published opening reports.

  1. 1992

    Demir İnşaat is founded

The journey began under the name Demir İnşaat, with a single contract. What we do has not changed since: open roads, and keep open what we have built.

  2. 2012

Work for five separate authorities in one year

The earliest official records in our archive date from this year. In a single year we ran eight separate contracts at once — for the Bursa, Van and Diyarbakır regional directorates of the General Directorate of Highways, for DSİ, for a provincial special administration and for the Osmaniye Organised Industrial Zone.

  3. 2014

    Our first joint venture

We took on the 34.7-kilometre section of the Karacabey–Susurluk–Balıkesir route under a joint venture. Our practice of delivering work too large to carry alone through partnership began here.

  4. 2018

First joint contract with Feza Taahhüt

We worked alongside Feza Taahhüt on the Turanköy Junction of the Bursa Ring Motorway. The way the group companies work together was established on this contract.

  5. 2020

    Fifty kilometres under one contract

We took on the whole of the 50.4-kilometre road running from the Silifke–Mut junction to Gülnar under a single contract. Everything between Km 0+000 and Km 50+384 — from earthworks to engineering structures — was our responsibility.

  6. 2022

    Tunnel and landslide works

We took on landslide prevention at the tunnel portals of the North Ankara Protocol Road, and in the same year the 58.8-kilometre section of the Mardin–Midyat road. Working in difficult ground is a discipline of its own; it became the fastest-growing part of our portfolio.

  7. 2023

    Post-earthquake repair

After the 6 February earthquakes we took part in repairing the transport infrastructure of the region. The damaged railway between Fevzipaşa and Islahiye, and the Antakya Ring Road–Samandağ route, were among these contracts. In the same year we started the Şahinbey Municipality tunnel and junction works.

  8. 2024

Şahinbey 100th Year Tunnels opened to traffic

The tunnel and junction scheme easing urban traffic in Gaziantep entered service. In the same period, the contract on the Erdemli–Silifke–Taşucu route became the highest-value contract in our portfolio.

  9. 2026

    Musabeyli–Kilis road opened

The state highway running from the Nurdağı–Hassa junction to Kilis was opened with a ceremony. The Hacı İbrahim Demir Complex opened for worship in the same year.

Where we stand today

We have worked for six separate units of the General Directorate of Highways, for DSİ, for the State Railways and for metropolitan municipalities. Our portfolio covers tunnels, viaducts, hot mix asphalt roads, slope stabilisation and post-earthquake repair.

Every completed and ongoing contract is published with its details on the Projects page. The inventory of equipment we use on site is on the Equipment Fleet page.
